Moonshot thinking, like that used to put a man on the moon in the ’60s, involves solving a huge problem using a radical solution and technology. This is how the journey of The Self Funding House® started. What was initially a passion project of simply writing a book, soon transformed itself into a much larger goal. What happened next was amazing—home builders wanted to implement The Self Funding House® concept in their subdivisions!

Our mission is to solve the housing affordability crisis being felt around the world. We have a vision of assembling an all-star cast of collaborators, each experts in their own fields, and becoming the think-tank behind bringing The Self Funding House® to communities around the globe.

Derek Lobo is known as the Apartment Guru due to his decades of speaking, writing, consulting, brokerage transactions, relationships, amortized knowledge, and Industry wisdom. He is one of the most connected individuals in the apartment industry today living by his personal motto of “always stay in traffic.”

His passion for apartment construction, student housing, and affordable housing has led him to establish a sterling reputation, and industry credibility, as an expert advisor in these fields. Coupled with his personal mission to solve the global housing crisis has led him to co-found The Self Funding House® concept.

Now in his fifth decade of business, Derek continues to be an industry collaborator by bringing together like-minded, talented individuals to solve business challenges and create opportunities. His keen insight and strategies have allowed him to broker some of the nation’s largest and most complex real estate transactions. He also is currently the CEO of SVN Rock Advisors Inc., Brokerage.

Rod is spearheading the strategy, growth, and implementation of The Self Funding House™ concept. His career has spanned three decades, and his clients have included billion-dollar brands, global sales organizations, and dozens of high-performing entrepreneurs. His career has been focused on what he calls Implementeering™ —the art and science of engineering the implementation of a dream or vision.

With a focus on systems, process, scaling, and intellectual capital, maximizing results is the bottom line. A clear vision of growth and the path forward have remained the hallmark of his character. Co-authoring The Self Funding House™ series and the Online Learning Portal has become the pinnacle of the several hundreds of books he’s published for high-performing entrepreneurs.

Rod prides himself on delivering innovative and fresh top-shelf solutions, while keeping the vision clear and on-target. He also holds a senior Director’s role for SVN Rock Advisors Inc..
